Island Overseas Transport Corporation tendered last 28 November 2010 its annual Family Day at SMX Convention Center. With the theme “Maging Global Ka Man, Kultura’y Huwag Kalimutan”, a gentle message that amidst the global exposure of seafarers, bringing with them new experiences, insights and practices, one should not forget the rich Filipino culture.
IOTC was honored with the presence of Capt. Hajime Onodera, General Manager, Marine Personnel Division of Hachiuma Steamship Co., Ltd who was the keynote speaker at the event
The event was filled with Kundiman songs, rural folk dances as well as serenades from a rondalla and a choir group. As in the past years, IOTC also raffled off numerous prizes such as mobile phones, PSPs (Play Station Portable), laptops and printer and a lot more. Also, 50 gift certificates worth a thousand each were raffled off. To ensure that nobody goes home empty-handed, allotees brought home portfolio bags and two-fold umbrellas. Lunch was catered by a well-known catering service in the Metropolis and the children were treated with ice cream and cotton candy which they immensely savored as they lined up repeatedly for the treat.

Company President Capt. Emmanuel L. Regio delivered his usual message during the event touching basically on the lined-up programs that would benefit seafarers and their families.
The annual event has been a tradition of IOTC as a way of showing its gratitude to the families of its seafarers and has become bigger and grander in scale. The family day in honor of the seafarer’s families is just one of the ways the company manifests living up to its corporate slogan of “Beyond Seafaring”. IOTC looks forward to holding this event next year.
